waking from a nightmare
filled with usual demons

I turn on BBC news
to find ironic relief

the horror here and now
far worse than dreams

nothing in dreams compares
to modern human butchery

and whoever thought demons
would be welcomed as comfort?

Commission, Oregon Public Broadcasting, to write teleplay on Sen. Wayne Morse. Never produced. Becomes one-man play, American Gadfly, produced in 2004, then tours.

Publish seminal essay What Is Hypertext? on Internet. Translated into several languages, establishes online reputation.

Electronic Playwright-in-residence, Prisma, Santiago, Chile, resulting in The Last Song of Violeta Parra, a one-act hyperdrama.
