If you grow up in a Navy family, as I did, no other football game brings the excitement, the energy, the traditions, or the values of this long rivalry. My dad's two brothers both served in the Army, so we had a family rivalry going, too.
When I joined the Army, not the Navy, my uncles gave my dad the works. My mom almost had a nervous breakdown. How could I? My dad understood: a 3 year Army hitch, not a 4 year Navy one. And even while serving, I rooted for Navy! Childhood roots are strong.
