Changing San Francisco

Imagine SF without North Beach and the Beats, without Haight-Ashbury and the hippies. Welcome to the transformation of a city. An invasion of young techies with great wealth is changing the look and feel of SF. Old timers are priced out of a city they called home for generations. Now, with the average rental over 3 grand, you need a six-digit income just to hang around. The bohemian traditions are an endangered species.

SF is not alone. Class lines based on wealth are getting reinforced everywhere in the country.

I still hope immigrants can save us. I don't see any other group with the numbers, gripes, and vision to instigate political action.
