"You can't fix it. You can't make it go away.
I don't know what you're going to do about it,
But I know what I'm going to do about it. I'm just
going to walk away from it. Maybe
A small part of it will die if I'm not around
feeding it anymore."

Stanley Lombardo's Homer
Lombardo's translation and reading of The Iliad is extraordinary (Audible.com audio book, highly recommended!). He brings Homer to the modern age, in language, in sensibility, while retaining its classical roots and feel - I am blown away by his accomplishment. This truly is the Mother of All War Stories, thanks to this modern translation and energetic reading. It's more gripping than any Hollywood war movie. It's horrifying and comic, sad and moving, ironic and tragic. This is why the classics are the classics, my friends. Read this book! or better, get the audio book and hear Lombardo's first rate reading of Homer. Yes, now I must listen to the others. (Also available as paperback).
